Year 12:
main goals:
- [ ] Do well in your mocks and work towards A* or A predictions in Biology, Chemistry and a third subject of your choice - but check entry requirements as some universities specify the third subject preferences.
- [ ] VOLUNTEERING - find a volunteering placement this can be at a care home or a hospital, anywhere where your work will revolve around patient care, do this for a long period of time. Aim for at least 3 months of weekly volunteering alongside your studies. Try to do this earlier on in the year so you can focus on Mock Exams later.
- [ ] WORK EXPERIENCE - shadowing a Doctor, try your local GP or ask around whilst youre volunteering at a hospital to look for opportunities. Bring a notebook with you to write down what you observe as you will need to talk about this on your personal statement.
- [ ] UCAT and BMAT revision towards the end of the academic year
- [ ] Register for UCAT in June
Summer before Year 13:
UCAS DEADLINE: 15TH OCTOBER
- [ ] UCAT or BMAT - use medify or something similar to revise for this. Registration opens in June, so be ready to book soon so you get your ideal date and location. This will happen in an exam centre and there are many places to choose from.
- [ ] Draft your personal statement and perfect it over the summer, so it should be ready on time for the deadline.
- [ ] if you have not found experience yet, use this summer to get some!
- [ ] Research the universities you want to apply for - applying strategically is key, make it balanced with an aspirational choice and a good insurance.
September - October Year 13:
- [ ] UCAT or BMAT done
- [ ] Personal statement ready - make sure you fit in the character limit
- [ ] Predicted Grades are entered into the system and finalised by now
- [ ] University choices are all made after some thorough research
